Five beauty staples that earned their shelf
I travel enough that my beauty routine has had to become ruthlessly edited. There is no space in a carry-on for sentimentality. Every product that makes it into my bag has earned its place through months of actual use — not unboxing excitement, not press-trip gifting, but the slow proof of daily life.
These five have been with me for over a year. They are still here.
The criteria
To earn its shelf in my routine, a product has to work consistently across climates — from the dry cold of Tokyo in February to the humid heat of Cebu in July. It has to travel well. It has to do what it says. And it has to be the kind of thing you notice when it runs out.
What I keep coming back to
A good sunscreen that does not leave a white cast. A serum that actually improves your skin rather than just making it feel temporarily smooth. A lip treatment that works overnight. A foundation that photographs well in natural light. A setting spray that earns the hours it claims.
Simple needs. Hard to find products that meet all of them honestly. These do.
